Sanctuary Dogs

Bailey

Bailey has been with us since 2021.

She is with us because of her unpredictability and protectiveness.

Bailey loves her packmates, especially her besties Taz and Rita. Pack walks and enjoying the backyard are her favorite activities.

Her favorite treat is a bully!!

Peek a Boo

Peek a Boo has been with us since June of 2024.

She has fly-biting syndrome and is heartworm-positive.

Boo, as we affectionately call her, loves the “art of the walk.”  It is all about the strategic sniffs and rolls.  She taught us to “Stop and smell the Roses.”  Enjoy the small things in life.

Her favorite treat is liver treats!

Spike

Spike has been with us since 2022

Spike was adopted off the e-list the day he was supposed to be euthanized.  He has past trauma, which requires him to have daily meds.

Spike is a huge fan of our pack walks. He loves to play with his girls, Anika and Sophie, who came in at the same time and have a true bond.

Spike’s favorite treat is the bully stick!

Lucky

Lucky has been with us since 2023

Lucky has one of the sadder stories for us.  He has terrible separation anxiety.  His owner decided she needed to rehome him at nine because she had moved into a new living arrangement and did not consider Lucky and his separation anxiety into her new mix.  When Lucky started to tear things up, she moved Lucky out.

Lucky loves his pack walks and his girls, Rita and Tazzer.  He is the grandpa of the group - everyone loves wise old Lucky!

Lucky’s favorite treat is the bully stick!

Anika

Anika came to the sanctuary in 2022. Our plan was to adopt her out as she is the cutest Boxer ever, but she had several health issues and is extremely fearful around unfamiliar people, especially men, so adoption never happened. Anika loves living at the sanctuary—she especially loves her pack wanders and greeting the new puppies when they come in and making them feel at home.

Anika is really into her bully sticks!

Sophie

Sophie came to the sanctuary in 2022.

Sophie is the sweetest girl in the world but is deathly afraid of anything unfamiliar, including people, dogs, and circumstances.  She went into a foster home, which did not go well.  The sanctuary people and sanctuary pack have become her familiar.  She loves the sanctuary, especially her buddies Anika and Spike.  She loves her pack walks and running like a gazelle.

Sophie loves her bully sticks!!

Rita

Rita came to the sanctuary in 2021

Rita belonged to a family but was very afraid of people. She bonded with her human mom but was unpredictable around other family members. After some biting incidents, Rita was turned over to the sanctuary. She is super smart and is often used as a training demo dog. Rita loves living at the sanctuary with all her buddies. She gets lots of exercise and playtime.

Rita loves her bully sticks!

Aspen

Aspen came to the sanctuary in 2019.

She is another dog who broke our hearts. At the age of 8, she was turned into a kill shelter. She was adopted by another shelter and eventually made her way to us. She had obviously been an outside dog and had no desire to be a traditional pet. She was unpredictable and liked strangers to ignore her. This combination did not bode well for Aspen or potential adopters.

She loves Mark, one of the humans at the sanctuary, and she loves to run around the open fields on the pack walks.

Aspen's favorite treats are the bully sticks!

Buddy, Belle, and Benji

Our Honorary Sanctuary Dogs

They moved back from Mexico with us in 2015 and were all rescued in 2012. They were the original dogs that would be rescued and rehomed, but because of different circumstances, they never found homes.

They have always loved the new additions to our pack, getting along well with the other dogs and adapting to ever-changing circumstances.

We love our honorary sanctuaries!!

Their favorite treats are bullies, of course!

Sport - Adoptable

Sport is a super sweet pup who came to us in November, he was rescued off the E list.  He was found as a stray and was at the shelter for two years without being adopted.  Sport is the perfect example of why we exist.  He is a great dog who just needed a chance.  So we stepped in and adopted him.  He is actually very adoptable, so please look at his profile on our adoption page.  He is super sweet and very obedient and smart.  He loves being at the sanctuary because he gets plenty of walks and runs!

Sports Favorite treats are bully sticks!

Brody - Adoptable

Brody came to us as a tiny 4 week old puppy.  He was found abandoned by someone in town who took him to the vet, and then he came to live with us.  To see him go from a pup with no hair, skin problems, worm issues - to the awesome pup he is today has been amazing!  He is also very adoptable, please check out his profile on our adoption page.  He is very shy away from the sanctuary, this is the only home he has ever known.  His favorite things to do is run and play with the other sanctuary dogs.

Brody likes ANY treat!
